The Peaks View Animal Hospital team of skilled veterinarians welcomes you to our practice. We are proudly serving the Lynchburg area. At Peaks View Animal Hospital, it is our daily privilege to provide quality vet care to your cherished pet, with compassion and competence. We hope to ensure a positive impact on our patients, pet owners and the local community.


Al Henry, DVM

Dr. Henry received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Auburn University in 1982 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 1985. He has practiced veterinary medicine in Lynchurg since 1989. Along with his wife Cindy, they keep a variety of different species. Currently, then number stands at 2 dogs, 5 cats, 1 cockatiel, 2 goats and 2 chickens. Professionally, Dr. Henry has a special interest in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery. Personally, he enjoys the outdoors, especially his time on the water fly fishing.


Les Mulligan, DVM

Dr. Mulligan graduated from The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. He and his wife, Patty, live in Forest. Currently they have four dogs and cats, all rescues that they adopted. In his spare time, Dr. Mulligan enjoys hiking, biking, and kayaking. He has a special interest in behavioral medicine, and is studying Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy.


Jaclyn Clement, DVM

Dr. Jaclyn Clement graduated with highest honors from California University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Biology, concentration in pre-veterinary medicine in 2004. After graduation, Dr. Clement worked as a veterinary assistant at Monongahela Animal Hospital, in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. In the summer of 2005, she joined the staff of PVAH as a treatment technician and worked up until her admittance into veterinary school in 2007. Dr. Clement attended the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, and received her DVM degree in May of 2011. After 3 years in private practice, she has rejoined the staff at PVAH as an associate veterinarian. Dr. Clement has a special interest in surgery, internal and preventative medicine. She and her husband Mark have now permanently settled in the Lynchburg area with their 2 cats (Gizmo and Abby), their Fox Hound (Fawkes), and their horse (Fan Club) a registered Thoroughbred. In Dr. Clement’s spare time she enjoys showing Fan Club with the South Western Virginia Hunter Jumper Association, running in local 5K races, and spending time with her family and friends.


Mintcy Maxham, DVM

Dr. Mintcy Maxham graduated from NC State’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She served as a consultant for a wildlife rehabilitation center and worked in a small animal practice in Durham before joining Peaks View Animal Hospital in August 2014. She lives in Lynchburg with her husband, Tom, and kids, Caleb and Nora. They have a mutt dog named Pippa and two cats, Tina and Melvin. When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she can usually be found riding her bike around Lynchburg.


Jamie Adkins, DVM

Dr. Jamie Adkins attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and Texas A&M Veterinary School. She has worked in mixed animal and companion animal practices before coming to Peaks View. She enjoys medical and surgical small animal practice and has special interests in reproductive medicine, dermatology, pocket pets and birds. At home she enjoys horseback riding, travel and spending time with her family which includes her husband, two daughters, three Cavalier King Charles spaniels, a Standard Poodle, horses, goats, and chickens.


Shella Baker, DVM

Dr. Shella Baker received her Bachelor of Science in Animal & Poultry Science at VA Tech, her Masters from Drexel University, and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She worked for 10 years as a veterinarian in Bedford County before coming closer to home and joining our team in September 2015. Her interests include reproductive work, soft tissue surgery, and expanding her knowledge in ultrasonography. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, bee keeping, writing, and spending time with her husband and fur-kids. She also assists the Lynchburg Humane Society and is a proponent of adoption and rescue.


Lauren Conners, DVM

We would like to give a big Welcome to our newest PVAH addition in 2018! Dr. Lauren Conners is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended the University of Virginia for her undergraduate degree, and graduated from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. After several years as an equine ambulatory practitioner, she chose to complete a year-long small animal internship at an emergency and specialty hospital in Richmond. Since then she has continued to practice as a small animal emergency veterinarian in Central Virginia, meanwhile also working at general practice in Charlottesville. Her professional interests include any and all emergencies, ophthalmology, and dermatology. Dr. Conners lives in Nelson County with her fiance, three dogs, and seven horses. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, hiking, and playing polo.


Connor Grimes, DVM

Dr. Connor Grimes is originally from Charlottesville Virginia. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences from Virginia Tech, and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Grimes volunteered in various clinics and worked as a veterinary assistant in Charlottesville before starting veterinary school. He later gained veterinary experience from several clinics in Virginia and Wyoming, as well as participated in a month long external rotation in New Zealand at a mixed species practice. His interests include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and ultrasonography. In his spare time he enjoys being outdoors with his Border Collie Rose, fishing, martial arts, and spending time with family and friends.
